It's also the only robot vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't completely foolproof in our tests, and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

The vacuum has a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty they tend to be.

For larger homes it's worth looking for one that has zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one specific area of your home via the app or via voice commands. A stairway mode is useful if you own a lot furniture. Additionally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is ideal for busy families.

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd imagine from its price. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot app guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, set up the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also provides access to a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
