The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its low cost and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detectors) are positives.
Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models will also empty the onboard dust bin and place it in an additional bin at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have examined. They are equipped with motors that are top of the quality and can suction up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the top model) they employ smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots that vacuum and mop also feature the feature of Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare, and they are particularly adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to become stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't come with an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.
However, it's a good choice for those who want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it while you're at work, or school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you need to, you can swap the mopping pad for dry ones in a matter of minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact sleek and stylish vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also features an impressive suction system and a self-emptying bin. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets, however it falls behind some competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time and offer more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones with the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.
You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mop and extend them when it's in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also ideal for Best robot hoover getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did a great job cleaning a range of rooms and floors with different flooring types, including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek circular design that looks more like a normal Roomba rather than the boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest flagship model from iRobot is also the most intelligent. It comes with advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot vacuum cleaners uk that can wash mop pads autonomously).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score a perfect 10 in our testing due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with a simple mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's a noisy unit that could be an issue if you use it in the morning before work or in the evening as you attempt to sleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, though it's not as pricey as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra both of which are similarly capable and better-looking. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a lot of advanced features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs the top of the line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It has a multifunction dock which automatically empty the vacuum's bin and fills up the water tank, and cleans and dries mop pads.
The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning robot mop and vacuum frequency for various areas of the house depending on how dirty these areas are.
If you have a bigger home, it's worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This lets you tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned by using the app or voice control. If you have furniture, a stairway mode is also a good option. Finally a recharge and resume feature that lets your robot cleaner with mop vacuum continue where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is more intelligent than its price suggests. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with only one pad and a reciprocating motion that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process that collects data on your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, arrange an area for cleaning or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to ensure better performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean an area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed like cute eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, however it is more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we have examined. It also has an app that's less intuitive, and a smaller base station that does not double as a bin for emptying.
