The item upgrade allows players to boost the gear rating of an item up 700 points and also give it a bonus. Items can be upgraded if they are in your inventory and you take them to the kiln.

Certain items can be upp'd to benefit from their unique stats (like an ideally rolled breakpoint armour used in melee PvP) and others, like weapons, don't change much post upgrade and thus aren't worth upgrading.

Weapons

Weapons can be upgraded to boost their numeric stats, such as damage to attack, crit chance PvE and PvP damage. They also have a flat bonus which increases the damage they deal per second. Some weapons also have a fixed bonus that is activated when three or more identical weapons are placed in a unit. This bonus may be more than the damage that a weapon upgrade alone can do.

The cost of upgrading a weapon is based on the rarity of the weapon and its current level. For example, an +2 weapon requires two regular Smithing Stones while a+3 requires four. The number of stones required to upgrade a weapon will continue increase until it requires the higher level of Smithing Stones, at which point it will reset to one.

Upgrades to weapons will also alter the stats of the base. This is usually a positive aspect, but it may also have negative effects. Upgrades can render items inaccessible, unless you're very lucky.

Upgrades can be made to armor items to improve their performance. This can increase the defense of a chest or helm, while belts and gloves can boost their strength and agility. Armor has a rerolling option for its Enhanced Defense percent. This means that it can sometimes roll down to a lower value.

The upgrade template for a weapon displays the new stats that it will get when upgraded in addition to their respective values. This means that an upgrade from an 8 attack-damage sword to an 11-attack-damage sword will result in a weapon receiving 3% of attack damage. However the 3% does not mean that it will strike 3 times less often because it's an absolute number.

A weapon can be rerolled by pressing the green button, which is accompanied by arrows that circle in the menu for items. The item upgrade will be rerolled and change its statistics, but it will not reset the weapon's levels, or connect it to an account's status.

Armor

A few upgrades to your armor can make the world of difference to your survival. You can upgrade your armor by visiting one of the Great Fairy Fountains. Note that armor can't be upgraded in the same manner as weapons, so you'll have to focus on upgrading it to gain physical power if you're a Warrior or Spell Power when you're a Mage. The upgrade vendors can be found in major cities and in the capital of each zone, as well as in in dungeons. Upgrades for trinkets are purchased using tokens, gold or fragments of a rare trinket.

Upgrades are a cheaper alternative to buying a new trinket. You can upgrade their trinket for as little as 12 tokens. The new trinket has the same level of base as the previous trinket but it also comes with an additional bonus of 1% upgrade.

When the old Trinkets are no longer useful they can be upgraded. This allows a player to increase their power and value over time. They can also be traded between players, making them an attractive alternative to gold.

In general, players should upgrade item their highest priority items first. Upgrades to trinkets are more expensive than other upgrades but still less expensive than buying new ones.
