WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.

Upgraded gear is generally more valuable, unless the item Level Upgrade has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like Eth Titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the need to roll for a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader allows players to upgrade gear to a higher level by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of armor or weapons. However, the item that is used for the upgrade will be consumed forever and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be used to create the enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear anytime by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To ensure that your equipment is up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader each couple of weeks.

The cost of upgrades will depend on the current level of the gear being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than buying new gear from other sources. For example upgrading a Benthic chest to 385 ilvl will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item from a different player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon, and accessory upgrades. They can be purchased through NPCs who sell upgrades to item upgrader kit owners for a variety of currencies. They can also find them on random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon, or armor. The button will display the preview of an item's next upgrade level, if there are enough materials.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot for the item and the current item level. For example, weapons will cost more than gloves, bracers or bracers. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a specific number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain amount it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currencies.

Item upgraders can be found at many locations, including the main island and some outposts. The NPCs provide both an upgrade discount as well as a chance to get a brand new upgrade recipe. The discount for upgrades increases depending on the amount of items that are being upgraded, and can be increased by having players complete some specific achievements or quests.

Icewind Dale does not have an upgrader for items at the start unlike Cromwell from Baldur's gate II. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only accessible through a variety means. This is both a benefit and a disadvantage.

In Season 3, the upgrade system was altered a bit, with numerous new features added. Once a player has upgraded to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same item level will cost less. This is true regardless of whether the items are from a different set of equipment.

The amount of Valorstones needed for upgrades is decreased, and the discount is available across all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests needed to upgrade is also reduced and is not available until players have reached certain milestones in their achievements.

Crests

Players have a number of options when it comes to upgrading their gear in WoW. Flightstones are an option that is accessible to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more special and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are an important part of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System introduced in version 10.1. They are available in four ranks.

First, you must be aware that the crests can only be purchased for gear with a certain rank. Each rank comes with an upgrade path that is different. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests through finishing tasks at the appropriate level. This could be by engaging in outdoor activities or doing dungeons or raids in any difficulty to earn equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses of raids or dungeons with a heroic difficulty for gear in the endgame. These crests are then exchanged with an upgrader such as Cuzolth or Vaskarn, in Valdrakken for the appropriate upgrade item steps and routes.

The new currency system isn't complicated to use, but it does bring some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This change is designed to allow players to get their gear up to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests only have one purpose therefore it's essential to use them properly. It is Best item upgrade to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially relevant for items like rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The discount for the entire account will only apply when all slots on the character are filled with high-quality equipment.
