Path of Exile Item Upgrading

Item upgrading allows players to improve their weapons and gear with new affixes that boost its base stats or adding additional perks. To upgrade an item, the player needs to have it in their inventory and have access to the kiln.

Usually objects that have weak bases (like rings) can be upgraded to a more powerful base while items with strong bases such as eth titans aren't affected in their stats following being upgraded.

Upgrade components

Upgrade components are items that can be incorporated into trinkets, weapons, armor and gathering tools, giving an attribute bonus or additional effect while the equipment is in use. They can be bought from vendors, or found in loot, thrown away by enemies or as a reward for missions or chests. Certain upgrades can also be equipped with special cosmetic effects. Most upgrades require that the equipment be at a certain level to upgrade.

To upgrade the quality of a weapon or piece armor, the user must select it, and then click the Upgrade button on the toolbar. The preview will appear on the right side of the screen, showing what the expected upgrade stats will be as well as the necessary component or material needed for the upgrade to take place.

There are three types of upgrade components that are universal upgrades, prefix upgrades and suffix upgrades. Universal upgrades, like gems, are able to be placed on any type of equipment. They offer a lesser bonus than upgrade components that have a specific type restriction. Infusions, which can only be placed in ascended gear or legendary equipment, are the same as jewels but have higher bonuses and cannot be placed in any other equipment. Suffix upgrades can be added to gathering tools. They add a suffix to the end of the names of items. For instance adding the suffix Glyph will transform the staff wrapping of Minor Vigor into a Canthan staff wrapping of Minor Vigor.

In the instance of upgrades for gathering tools If a player replaces one glyph with another the old glyph will be returned to the inventory. However replacing any other upgrade component can destroy it, except for the inscriptions that can be swapped.

Leveling

Path of Exile's upgrade process is different from the previous versions in a few important ways. Gear is now broken down into tracks and items can be upgraded a specific number of times before they are "leveled out." The cost of upgrading increases with each level, however the materials required for upgrades do not. This lets players focus their efforts on a handful of essential items and maximize their impact instead of spreading the cost of upgrades across several pieces.

This allows the item to receive new upgrade components, and have a greater chance of success. This bonus is known as the Artisan's Energy. It resets to 0 if an upgrade fails or increases if the upgrade succeeds.

Once a piece of gear is upgraded to its highest level it is able to be given affixes that enhance its capabilities. The number of affixes available will depend on the type of item it is. For example the rare or exclusive weapon with a base that is normal will have only two affixes for it, while a legendary armor will have up to eight affixes for it.

Each upgrade requires a specific number of Flightstones or Crests, depending on whether the item is at its current level and what slot it is placed in. Typically, weapons require more Flightstones to upgrade than other kinds of equipment.

If an item upgrader kit doesn't reach its maximum level, the NPC grants the player the choice to transfer it to another character and re-infuse the item upgrader kit with a new set or upgrades. This process can take between one and two hours, and costs the same amount of materials. However it has a lower rate of success.

Engineers may employ a level to compare the height of the building with a known location, such as an existing benchmark. This is known as a "level loop." It involves taking readings with the backsight rod and the level, then turning the level and taking the foresight rod reading. This method ensures that buildings are constructed to a high level of accuracy and safety.

Rerolling

Rerolling is the process of altering the upgrade components of an item. It is an important aspect of the game and can drastically increase the strength of an item, damage, or other attributes. This can be accomplished through the item menu or by using the Reroll button on an upgraded item. Rerolling is costly and should only be used in the rarest of circumstances.

Reroll tokens are earned by recycling upgraded items. These tokens are then used to upgrade the original item or an similar item. Recyclable items have an indicator that indicates the degree of upgrade. The rarity and cost of upgrading an item determines the level of filling.

Prior to this, some upgrades were given priority affixes that made them more accessible for players to roll. This meant that you'd get the stats that mattered most to your build often than other. These included things like the armor's total armor, thorns and control impaired duration reduction stats or the weapon's bonus attack speed and critical strike chance.

This has changed since the latest patch. Priority affixes have been removed and all upgrades will have the same odds of rolling for all stats. This can be either good or bad, depending on what you're looking to get from your equipment.

Each upgraded item can be equipped with a special bonus that increases the item's power by a fixed percentage or a flat amount. These bonuses are rolled into the usual affixes. The more you upgrade your product, the better the chance of receiving a unique bonus.

The game also comes with various sets which grant a set bonus when three or more upgraded items from the same set are installed on an item. This is a great method to give the character more power without spending a lot of money.

Many players prefer to reroll their equipment and weapons, particularly in the beginning stages of the game. Rerolling can help you gain a stronger character faster, allowing you to progress in the game and reach higher tiers.

Sets

Sets are collections that can be arranged differently. They can be different dimensions, have no elements, or only contain one element. They can be used to organize data or to sort information. They can also be used to analyze patterns. Sets can be classified in many ways such as size and shape.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom provides a wide range of upgradeable set items. Certain items are worth upgrading while others aren't. Armor sets with high defense values or set bonuses are typically worth upgrading. However, most upgrades to weapons don't improve the quality of the item upgrade's stats when as compared to their purple counterparts. This makes them less appealing to upgrade in the event that your collection of weapons and armor pieces is already extensive.

Certain set items are upgraded to take advantage of their own unique functions that can be useful in some builds. This is evident in Aldur's Advance Boots and Guillaume's Face. Both were upgraded to Exceptional Winged Helms as well as Exceptional Mirrored Boots, respectively. This increased their defense from 217 to 321. (Strength requirements and Level requirements were also increased).

Upgrades can also be made to bring certain items to the level of the tiers. The Immortal King Set, for instance, comes with a wide range of levels ranging from 29 to 75. The upgrade of lower-level items in the set can increase their defense and increase their competitiveness in terms of damage.

Clicking the Upgrade button will show the attributes of the item upgrades and the necessary items needed to upgrade items it. It will show the item's attributes, along with the items needed to upgrade it. To upgrade the No-mouth face, for example, 1.1K Scrap Materials will be required, 250 Enchanted Dust and 5 Glowing Shards. Players can also check the upgrade requirements for specific items at the Cyrodiil Golden vendor or Leaderboard.

Generally speaking the jewelry and weapons have greater value for trading when fully upgraded than armor. Upgrades to gold are recommended for weapons that have spell/weapon-damage glyphs. This will bring about a significant improvement in their stats. This will also boost the defense of armor that has an updated appearance.
