They are also available on random treasure lists. Once an upgrade is purchased, it can be applied to any weapon, tool, or armor with an button, which will display an item upgrading's preview at the next upgrade level in the event that the player has enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the slot of the item and current item upgrading level, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for example. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Certain upgrades provide discounts on Flightstones. It's also important to use crests wisely, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance, it's best to use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrade gear you have available and save Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you're planning to create. This is especially true for items such as rings and trinkets that occupy multiple slots. The account-wide discount will only be applicable if all the slots on the character are filled with top-quality gear.
