WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades give a guaranteed boost to certain stats. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. A random extra substat is also boosted alongside every upgrade.

The upgraded gear is usually more valuable, unless the item has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or a high stat variance (like eth Titan weapons). Upgrades are less valuable for the latter due to the requirement to roll the perfect version.

Recycle Points

The upgrader for items allows players to upgrade gear to a higher item upgrade level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of armor or weapon. The item upgrade used to upgrade the item will be consumed and cannot be used again. Upgrades can be applied to enchantments.

You can upgrade your gear at any time by visiting the upgrader in any major city. To keep your gear up-to-date, it is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks.

Upgrades will cost more, based on the level of the item, however, they are always cheaper than purchasing new gear. For instance, upgrading a Benthic chest to ilvl 385 will cost 20 recycle points, while buying a similar item upgrader mod from another player will cost 105.

Valorstones

Upgrades are items that can be used to improve the quality of weapons tools, armor, and other items. They can be purchased by players through NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once purchased, an upgrade can be used on any tool, weapon or armor. The button will display a preview of an item's next upgrade level, when there are enough materials.

The upgrade cost depends on the item slot and the current item upgrade level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for instance. Each upgrade cost 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Certain upgrades provide a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level it is able to be degraded and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of the two currency types.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items, including the main Island and some outposts. The NPCs provide an upgrade discount as well as a chance to obtain a new upgrade recipe. The discount on upgrades increases as more items are upgraded. It can be increased if players finish certain achievements or quests.

Contrary to Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II, there is no upgrader for items at the beginning of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are only available through a variety means. This is both a positive and an issue.

In Season 3, several new features have been added to the upgrade system. Once an upgrade has been completed to a specific level for an armor slot, upgrading other items to the same level will cost less. This applies regardless of whether the items come from another set of gear.

The discount is available to all accounts. Similarly, the amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is also reduced and is not available until players reach certain milestones in their achievement.

Crests

Players have a number of options for upgrading their equipment in WoW. Flightstones are an item that is available to everyone for upgrading. Crests are more specialized and are utilized during specific Item level upgrade level upgrades. Crests are a key element of the Dragonflight gear progression system, which was introduced in 10.1 and are available in 4 ranks.

The first thing to remember is that crests can only be used on equipment that is of a particular rank, and that every rank has different requirements for upgrading. The most basic and straightforward upgrade path costs 15 crests, while the most complicated may require as many as 20 crests depending on the kind of gear being upgraded.

Players can earn crests by working through tasks at the appropriate level. This could mean engaging in outdoor activities or completing dungeons and raids in all difficulties to get equipment of lower tier or Mythic+ raid bosses or dungeons with a heroic difficulty to obtain endgame gear. These crests can then be exchanged at an upgrader NPC like Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade pathways and steps.

The use of these currencies isn't too complicated however, the system will introduce a few changes to the overall upgrade process. When a piece of equipment has reached the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it is no longer required to purchase Flightstones. This is to allow players to get their equipment to the highest ilvl possible on all their characters, rather than relying solely on seasonal loot.

It's also crucial to choose crests in a wise manner, as they are only used for one purpose. It's best to use your Whelpling-rank Crests on the top-quality equipment that you can find and keep Drake and Wyrm Crests to be used for the next set of upgrades. This is especially applicable to items like trinkets and rings that fill multiple slots. The discount for the entire account is only applicable when all slots on the character are filled with top-quality equipment.
