1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've test. They have top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. As with other top iRobot models (including the top choice), they use intelligent mapping technology to create detailed floor plans that avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture legs. They also feature a feature called carpet boost that boosts the robot's performance when it sees an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept in removing dog hair. However, they do have some flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of them is that the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to getting hung up on shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have an image sensor that lets it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good deal for those whose office or home has a lot of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save money. It's also very quiet and operates while you're at work or in school. It lacks the edge-to-edge bare floor vacuuming that is offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. And it's less effective at mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with a self-emptying dock, though. If you want to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in just a few just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming into a compact, sleek package. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and efficient at taking on larger particles, such as pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin as well as powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets but it's not as good as other hoovers when it comes to deep cleaning.

You can change the schedule of cleaning and even customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.

When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross contamination. Its flex arm is perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During testing, X30 Ultra was the most efficient robot vacuum/mop which could complete the task of cleaning a whole home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a good cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types, including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it was nimbly avoiding fake dog socks, turds and cables.

It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It has a range of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to finish the job. It also features "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and also alters the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house in accordance with the amount of dirt they are.

For larger homes it's worth looking for one with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your house by using the app or via voice commands. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot automatic vacuum cleaner to resume where it left off can be extremely useful.

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd think from its price. It has a great vacuuming performance and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with a single pad and a rotating motion that cleans better that most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that can be washed.

The iRobot app is designed to guide you through a mapping run, which gathers information on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas you've marked on the map. It can be used to design cleaning schedules, or to organize a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas for greater efficiency. The app also provides access to a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps and advanced settings for your cleaning.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It's got a more attractive design, akin to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It does a great job vacuuming, but it's more likely to get caught in low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuum cleaner uk vacuums that we have examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
