Then You ve Found Your Item Upgrade ... Now What
WoW Upgrades - The item level upgrade Upgrader
Upgrades give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade increases the level of the item by +3. Each upgrade also increases a random substat.
The upgraded gear is usually more useful, unless the item upgrade has low requirements by nature (like FB sorc shields) or has a large variance in stats (like eth Titan weapons). The latter see less value from upgrading due to the requirement to roll to get a perfect version.
Recycle Points
The item upgrader lets players upgrade their gear by offering the currency to an NPC. Upgrades can be applied on any kind of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can also be applied to enhancements.
The upgrader can be found in all major cities and can be visited at any time to upgrade your equipment. It is recommended that you visit the upgrader every couple of weeks to keep your equipment up-to-date.
Upgrades will cost more depending on the level of the item however they'll always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment. Upgrades like upgrading a Benthic chest up to 385 ilvl will cost you 20 recycle points. A similar item upgrading will cost you 105.
Valorstones
Upgrades are items that can be used to purchase tools, armor, weapon and accessory upgrades. They can be bought by players from NPCs that sell upgrades to items in exchange for a variety of currencies, and can be found in random treasure lists. Once an upgrade has been purchased, it can be applied to any weapon or tool using the help of The button will show the item's next upgrade level, in the event that there are enough materials.
The cost of upgrades varies based on the item slot and the current item level as well as the level of the weapon, which is more than bracers or gloves, for example. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a certain number of crests. Some upgrades give discounts on Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader for a lower price.
Upgraders for items can be found in many places, including the main island, as well as a few outposts. The NPCs offer an upgrade coupon and the possibility of obtaining an entirely new recipe. The discount for upgrades increases according to the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete some specific achievements or complete quests.
Unlike Cromwell in Baldur's Gate II there is no upgrader for items available at the start of Icewind Dale. The NPCs who are able to facilitate upgrades are available only through a variety means. This is both a benefit as well as a disadvantage.
In Season 3, a number of new features were added to the upgrade item system. After a player has earned an upgrade to a specific level for an item in an armor slot, upgrading additional items to the same level will cost less even in the event that they are part of an entirely different set of gear.
The discount applies to all accounts. The amount of Harbinger Crests required for upgrades is reduced also, but is only available after certain milestones have been reached.
Crests
When upgrading equipment in WoW players have a couple of options. Flightstones are a currency that is available to all players for upgrading. Crests are more specific and are utilized during specific item level upgrades. Crests are a crucial element of the Dragonflight Gear Progression System that was introduced in version 10.1. They come in four ranks.
The first thing to remember is that the crests can only be purchased for gear of a certain rank. Each rank comes with a different upgrade path. The easiest and most straightforward upgrade costs 15 crests. The most complex upgrade can require up to 20 crests, contingent on the type or gear that is being upgraded.
Players can earn crests by working through tasks at the appropriate level. This could be done by doing outdoor activities, or by completing dungeons and raids in any difficulty to earn equipment of lower tier or Mythicbosses for raids, or dungeons that have a high difficulty for gear in the endgame. The crests can later be exchanged at an upgrader NPC, such as Cuzolth in Dornogal, or Vaskarn in Valdrakken to get the appropriate upgrade routes and steps.
The new currency system isn't difficult to use, however it brings some changes to the upgrade process. When a piece attains the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change allows players to upgrade their equipment to the highest level possible on all of their characters, instead of relying on seasonal loot.
It's also important to use crests in a wise manner, as they are only used for one purpose. For instance it's a good idea use all of your Whelpling-rank crests with the Best item upgrade equipment available and keep Drake and Wyrm crests for the next batch of upgrades you're planning to make. This is particularly true for items like rings and trinkets that take up multiple slots on the character, which will only be able to benefit from the account-wide discount if all of the slots are full of high-quality gear.
