They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's also prone to get stuck on shoes and socks and could not navigate through rooms with a lot of people efficiently during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and can be used when you're at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping. It is dependent on disposable wet wipes that don't adhere well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 does have a self-emptying dock, though. And, if you have to change the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. iRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to sweep floors. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it easy to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also comes with strong suction and an automatic vacuum cleaner bin for emptying. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, although it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.

This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination utilizes advanced sensors to dodge obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and set up zones through the well-designed app. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and extend them when it's in a carpeted area to prevent cross-contamination. Its obstacle detection was top-notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.

It's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the competition. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot’s latest flagship model is also its smartest. It has advanced features such as Enhanced Dirt Detection as well as future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads autonomously).

It's also the only robot vacuum that vacuums and mops vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in our testing. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors, including a structured light system, a camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station, and it has an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It has an easy mobile application interface and best robot hoover integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 is still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or in the evening when you're trying to sleep.

Similar to Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that takes charge of both mopping and vacuuming, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank, and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to create floor plans and detect obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its competitors with premium features. It also has a camera mounted on the front to detect hazards in real-time but this was not foolproof in our testing and was occasionally confused by power cords or other obstructions.

Its vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to accomplish the task. It also has "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates how hard the vacuum works and alters the frequency of cleaning for different areas of your home according to how dirty they tend to be.

For larger homes, it's worth opting for one with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your house by using the app or via voice commands.
